About

LeaRn is an app designed by R learners for R learners

LeaRn was developed collaboratively by staff and students in the Department of Biology at the University of York in response to the difficulties faced by newcomers to R.

The importance placed on data handling and analysis in a biology degree can come as surprise to new students, and not a welcome one!

At the start of the first lecture of a module called "Data Analysis in R", we ask students two things

  1. to indicate the extent to which they agree with the statement "I will enjoy data analysis" and
  2. "How do you feel about R?"

This is what they tell us!

The lead design and development team are:

Emma Rand

Lecturer in Data Science in the Department of Biology

Joshua Sammy

Postgraduate research student in the Department of Biology

Connor Greenwood-Dean

Postgraduate student in the Department of Computer Science
